Formulas Used
CV = 35 − 16 = 19
Body Fat % = 86.010 × log₁₀(19) − 70.041 × log₁₀(70) + 36.76
Body Fat % = 86.010 × 1.279 − 70.041 × 1.845 + 36.76
Body Fat % ≈ 17.8% — PASS (under 22% for age 21-27)
Frequently Asked Questions
Soldiers who exceed screening table weight are measured using the circumference-based tape test to determine body fat percentage compliance.
The circumference method has an error margin of ±3-4% compared to more precise methods like DEXA. However, it's the official Army standard.
Women typically carry more fat in the hip/thigh area. Including hip measurement improves accuracy for female body fat estimation.
Soldiers exceeding body fat standards are enrolled in the Army Body Composition Program and may face administrative actions if they don't meet standards within prescribed timeframes.
