GWA = Sum of (Grade ร Units) รท Total Units. For each subject, multiply your grade by its units, add all products, then divide by total units enrolled.
For UP system: Percentage โ 100 - (GWA - 1) ร 8. Example: GWA 1.50 โ 100 - (0.50 ร 8) = 96%. This is an approximation; actual conversion varies by university.
At UP: Summa Cum Laude requires 1.00-1.20, Magna Cum Laude 1.21-1.45, Cum Laude 1.46-1.75. Additional requirements include no grades below certain thresholds and no INC marks.
On the UP scale: 1.00-1.50 is excellent, 1.51-2.00 is very good, 2.01-2.50 is good, 2.51-3.00 is satisfactory/passing. For honors consideration, aim for 1.75 or below.
GWA uses a 1.0-5.0 scale (lower is better) common in the Philippines. GPA uses a 0.0-4.0 scale (higher is better) common in the US. Both are weighted averages considering credits/units.
Policies vary by university. At UP, PE and NSTP are typically excluded from GWA computation. Check your university's specific guidelines.
INC (Incomplete) grades are typically excluded from GWA until completed. However, they may disqualify you from Latin honors. Complete INC grades within the allowed period.
