Frequently Asked Questions

What CRS score do I need for Express Entry?+

Recent cutoffs vary from 450-520 depending on draw type. All-program draws typically require 480-500. PNP candidates receive 600 bonus points and are typically invited with 750+.

How is CRS score calculated?+

CRS = Core factors (age, education, language, Canadian experience) + Spouse factors + Skill transferability + Additional points. Maximum is 1,200 points.

How can I increase my CRS score?+

Top methods: Get a Provincial Nomination (+600), improve language scores, gain Canadian education or work experience, get a job offer (LMIA-backed), or retake language tests for higher CLB.

What is CLB and how do I convert IELTS to CLB?+

CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) is used for CRS. IELTS 6.0 = CLB 7, IELTS 7.0 = CLB 9, IELTS 8.0 = CLB 10. Each skill is converted separately.

Does Provincial Nomination guarantee ITA?+

Almost. PNP adds 600 points, bringing most candidates above 750. All PNP candidates have been invited in recent draws with cutoffs around 700-800.

How often are Express Entry draws?+

IRCC conducts draws every 1-2 weeks, sometimes more frequently. Category-based draws (STEM, healthcare, French) may occur alongside all-program draws.

Does age affect CRS significantly?+

Yes. Maximum age points (110 for singles) are awarded for ages 20-29. Points decrease progressively after 30, reaching 0 at age 45 or older.

Can I apply without a job offer?+

Yes! Most Express Entry candidates don't have job offers. Focus on language scores, education, and Provincial Nomination to maximize your CRS without a job offer.

What is skill transferability?+

Extra points (up to 100) for combinations: Education + Language, Education + Canadian Experience, Foreign + Canadian Experience. Having strong factors in multiple areas earns bonus points.

How long is my profile valid in the pool?+

12 months. If not invited, you can re-submit. Update your profile if circumstances change (new job, higher language scores, etc.).
