XAT Score = Correct × 1 − Wrong × 0.25 − Unattempted Penalty (0.10 per question beyond 8). Only Part 1-3 count for percentile; GK is evaluated separately.
-0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Additionally, -0.10 marks for each unattempted question beyond the first 8 unattempted questions.
No. GK (Part 4) is evaluated separately and not included in the overall XAT percentile. However, some colleges may use GK scores in their selection process.
XLRI BM typically requires 96-98 percentile with sectional cutoffs: VALR 75%+, DM 75%+, QADI 80%+. Final selection also includes essay, GD/PI.
Percentile depends on difficulty level each year. Generally: 35+ score = 99%ile, 30-35 = 95-99%ile, 25-30 = 90-95%ile. This calculator provides estimates based on historical data.
30+ is excellent (99%ile range). 25-30 is very good (90-95%ile). 20-25 is average. For top XAT colleges like XLRI, aim for 30+ marks.
Quality over quantity. Aim for 50-55 attempts with 80%+ accuracy rather than 65+ attempts with low accuracy. The unattempted penalty kicks in only after 8 unattempted questions.
Some colleges require minimum percentile in each section. For XLRI BM: ~75-80%ile per section. Even 99 overall percentile won't help if sectional cutoffs aren't met.
